According to Article 13 par. 2 of the Law. 344/1976 “On civil status acts”, errors, apparently due to an oversight, which have been found in a civil status act, and which do not relate to the place, day, month, year and time of the event attested in the act, may also be corrected with the permission of the Public Prosecutor or, where there is no Public Prosecutor, of the Magistrate, issued after investigation and verification of the facts, at the request of any person having a legitimate interest. Therefore, if there are errors in your civil status records, these can be corrected, depending on their nature, either by means of a prosecutor’s order or by filing a petition for voluntary jurisdiction with the competent Magistrate’s Court.
